About this Technique

This technique is a simple but powerful energy based intervention used primarily when the disturbance is a strong negative affect, such as fear or anger or a recurring intrusive memory or thought.

The technique involves tapping on just 4 specific points on the midline of the body while you mentally attune to the specific disturbance.  Each point should be tapped on 7 times while you continue to attune to the specific disturbance.

The technique has been found to be helpful with a variety of unpleasant, uncomfortable or distressing feelings.  Many people have found that it has helped them to relieve strong emotions such as rage, anger, frustration, anxiety, grief, guilt and shame.  In addition, many people have also found it particularly helpful with troublesome physical sensations such as pain, dizziness or cravings.

With persistence it can be possible to clear out many strong feelings completely.  Some people find that the feelings that they’re working on can become temporarily stronger or that other distressing feelings come up as they begin to tap.  The important thing here is to keep tapping, focusing on whatever is the strongest feeling at that time.
